The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to extend a contract offer to JJ Redick, despite the former player emerging as a frontrunner for their head coaching position, with the NBA Draft looming.

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Purple and Gold have conducted a series of interviews with coaching candidates, including a formal meeting with Redick over the past weekend.

While Redick has reportedly made a strong impression on Lakers’ management, including general manager Rob Pelinka, no contract offer has been forthcoming as of yet.

“They’ve only offered the job to Dan Hurley and then the Lakers pivoted back to JJ Redick,” Wojnarowski stated on Sports Center. “What Rob Pelinka had with Redick at the [Draft] combine was kind of a 90-minute get-to-know-ya, not digging real deep, but just talking.

“And then they brought him to L.A. last weekend and he went through the more formal interview process. Redick has talked with Rob Pelinka since then, I know Pelinka has talked with another candidate or two since Redick’s interview this week. But what’s really left for the Lakers and JJ Redick at this point is for the Lakers to make an offer, which they haven’t quite done yet.”
