UConn head coach Dan Hurley will decide today whether to accept the Los Angeles Lakers’ coaching offer, according to a report on ESPN by NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

After a compelling pitch from the Lakers in Friday’s in-person meeting, Hurley is weighing a massive, long-term offer to move to the NBA.

Hurley, impressed by Lakers vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss, returned to consider the offer on Sunday.

Despite interviewing other candidates such as former player JJ Redick and New Orleans Pelicans assistant coach James Borrego, Hurley has been a primary focus for the Lakers.

Pelinka and Buss discussed merging Hurley’s program with the Lakers’ brand. Hurley, who has long aspired to coach in the NBA, explored the partnership with the Lakers.

LeBron James is intrigued by Hurley’s offensive strategies and the potential to draft Bronny James. The Lakers prioritize involving Anthony Davis in discussions about the next head coach’s plans.

While conversations with other candidates continue, landing Hurley has been the Lakers’ focus.

Hurley has achieved remarkable success at UConn, winning back-to-back NCAA titles. The coach boasts an impressive coaching record, including success at Wagner and Rhode Island.
