Jayson Tatum on Jason Kidd’s remark about Jaylen Brown: “People try to drive a wedge between us”

Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd recently stirred conversation by declaring Jaylen Brown as the Boston Celtics’ best player. However, Brown’s Celtics co-star, Jayson Tatum, sees the comments as an attempt to sow discord within the team.

In response to Kidd’s assertion, Tatum maintained a diplomatic stance, emphasizing the importance of unity in a team sport. He noted the potential for outside forces to exploit such statements to disrupt team chemistry.

“No reaction. This is a team sport. … We understand people try to drive a wedge between us. I guess it’s a smart thing to try to do. … This is not our first time at the rodeo,” Tatum said, via Ben Golliver.

Despite the external chatter, both Brown and Tatum showcased their prowess on the court during Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Mavericks.

Brown emerged as Boston’s top scorer in the game, contributing 22 points to the Celtics’ 107-89 victory over the Mavericks.

Meanwhile, Tatum delivered a solid performance, securing a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

As the NBA Finals progress, Brown and Tatum’s on-court chemistry will be crucial for the Celtics as they aim to secure another championship title.
