Zach Edey to join Canada for 2024 Paris Olympics

Draft prospect Zach Edey will join the Canada national team for training camp and expects to play at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Edey’s commitment comes despite the potential conflict with his NBA draft preparations.

Ryan Wolstat tweeted that Edey expressed excitement about his involvement with Canada Basketball and mentioned his recent workout with the Raptors.

“Zach Edey says he will be at Canada Basketball training camp despite draft conflict. Said it was really cool to workout for Raptors. Has four or five more workouts planned right now,” Wolstat reported.

Canada will make its return to the Olympics after 24 years, having qualified by winning bronze at the FIBA World Cup last year.

Edey, projected to be a lottery pick, has completed four years at Purdue, where he posted impressive stats.

This past season, Edey averaged 25.2 points and 12.2 rebounds in 32 minutes per game, showcasing his potential as a dominant player. His participation in the Olympics is seen as a significant boost for the Canadian team.

Edey’s inclusion in the national team highlights Canada’s growing talent pool and its aspirations for a strong Olympic performance.

The 7’4″ center’s presence will add considerable strength to the Canadian roster, offering a formidable inside presence.

The Canadians will start their olympic campaign in Group A alongside Australia and the winner of Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in Greece and Spain.
