The 76ers are prepared to offer Jimmy Butler a max extension if he leaves the Miami Heat. Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the Sixers are monitoring Butler’s contract situation closely.

The Sixers see Butler as a backup option if they can’t sign Paul George in free agency. Sources indicate that the 76ers are ready to offer the Heat star a maximum-salary extension if he forces a trade from Miami.

Butler is set to earn $48.8 million with the Heat next season, with a player option for the following year.

According to Anthony Chiang, Butler wants a max extension – whether from Miami or another team. He wants to sign it this offseason.

The 34-year-old veteran averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5 assists in 34 minutes per game this past season.

Philadelphia is keen on adding Butler, viewing him as a crucial piece for their championship aspirations.

Butler previously played for the 76ers during the 2018-2019 season, leaving a lasting impression on the team.
