Following the dismissal of J.B. Bickerstaff, the Cleveland Cavaliers are considering several candidates for their head coach position, with Kenny Atkinson emerging as the frontrunner.

Atkinson, currently an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, is reportedly leading the race for the Cavaliers job. However, New York Knicks associate head coach Johnnie Bryant is also a strong contender.

Jason Lloyd recently tweeted about Atkinson’s status as the leading candidate but mentioned Bryant as a potential name to watch. Bryant’s previous experience with Donovan Mitchell in Utah adds to his appeal.

Former Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts is also in the mix for the Cavaliers position. Stotts started the season as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks before resigning.

Marc Stein reported on Substack that Stotts is being considered by the Cavaliers, although it’s unclear if the team will retain Darius Garland on their roster this offseason.

The Cavaliers’ search for a new head coach involves input from team owner Dan Gilbert, who is reportedly more involved in the process than initially thought.
