LeBron James named Stanley Johnson as one of the most underrated defenders he has faced. This revelation came during a recent episode of the “Mind the Game” podcast with JJ Redick.

James reflected on his 2018 playoff series against the Detroit Pistons. He recalled how Johnson impressed him with his defensive skills during that first-round matchup.

“I think it was my first year back in Cleveland,” James said, via Matt Peralta of Lakers Nation, reminiscing about the series. “Stanley Johnson, he had the lateral movement, he had the physicality.”

LeBron highlighted Johnson’s ability to stick to defensive assignments. He appreciated Johnson’s determination and effort on the court.

Johnson earned James’ respect for his defensive prowess in that series. “Stanley definitely possessed those skills in our league, for sure,” LeBron added.
