Blake Griffin on Clippers potentially retiring his jersey

Blake Griffin recently addressed the possibility of the Los Angeles Clippers retiring his jersey. During an interview with Chandler Parsons on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back, Griffin shared his thoughts on the honor.

“It’s obviously a huge honor,” Griffin said. He mentioned he wouldn’t turn down such recognition. However, Griffin expressed uncertainty about deserving the accolade.

Griffin noted he hasn’t had any discussions regarding the jersey retirement. He reflected on his time with the Clippers, stating they didn’t accomplish their ultimate goals.

“I don’t know that I necessarily deserve it,” he added. Despite his humility, Griffin acknowledged the significance of the potential honor.

“I haven’t had any conversations about it. Like I keep saying, unfortunately, we ultimately didn’t truly accomplish what we wanted. It’s not something that I would say I’m expecting.”

“If it happens, that’s awesome. It’s a huge honor and I’d greatly appreciate it,” he said. Griffin emphasized that he isn’t expecting it but would be grateful.

The Clippers are one of two NBA teams with no retired jerseys. Griffin’s tenure with the team was marked by his explosive playing style and numerous highlights.

Griffin was a key figure during the “Lob City” era, alongside Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan. His contributions helped elevate the Clippers’ status in the NBA.

Whether or not the Clippers retire his jersey, Griffin’s influence on the franchise is undeniable. His career with the team left a lasting impression.
