Former NBA player turned analyst Kendrick Perkins advocates for the Phoenix Suns to part ways with Bradley Beal following a disappointing end to their season.
Despite boasting a formidable Big 3 lineup alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, the Suns faced a first-round exit in this year’s playoffs, being swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Perkins voiced his opinion on ESPN’s Get Up, suggesting that the era of Big Threes in basketball is over, and the Suns must consider reshaping their roster to address their shortcomings.
“Big threes are over with. … One of those guys has to go, and damn it, it’s not going to be Devin Booker, and it’s not going to be Kevin Durant,” Perkins said.
Beal, who joined the Suns via a trade from the Washington Wizards last season, averaged 18.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5 assists per game this season.
Following the end of Suns’ season, it was reported that the team intends to keep its Big Three.
The Suns’ decision to move on from head coach Frank Vogel and his coaching staff further underscores the need for a potential roster shake-up to recalibrate the team’s championship aspirations.
With the appointment of Mike Budenholzer as Vogel’s replacement, the Suns are signaling a willingness to make significant changes to revitalize the team and pursue success in the upcoming seasons.
