Former NBA player and current analyst Kendrick Perkins expressed bewilderment at the defensive performance of Rudy Gobert, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY).
Perkins took to X to share his incredulity regarding Gobert’s defensive play during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Denver Nuggets.
In his tweet, Perkins questioned how Gobert, known for his defensive prowess, could transition from being recognized as the DPOY to becoming a defensive liability.
“I just don’t understand how Gobert go from DPOY to a defensive liability. I mean damn!” Perkins tweeted.
The Minnesota Timberwolves lost Game 4 to the Nuggets, resulting in the series being tied at 2-2 as both teams head into a pivotal Game 5 matchup.
Gobert’s defensive capabilities have been widely praised throughout his career, earning him multiple DPOY awards and establishing him as one of the premier defenders in the league.
However, Perkins’ comments suggest that Gobert’s defensive performance in Game 4 fell short of expectations, leading to concerns about his effectiveness on that end of the floor.
