NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley advocates for the league to reconsider its lifetime ban on Jontay Porter, a two-way player with the Toronto Raptors.
Porter, 24, faced the lifetime ban for violating NBA rules related to disclosing confidential information to bettors and engaging in betting activities.
Barkley acknowledged the seriousness of Porter’s actions but believes the league should have imposed a temporary suspension instead of a permanent ban.
“I wish, because he’s such a young kid… I want to make it clear. I understand why they did it and rightfully so, but I wish they had said ‘Okay, five years’ something like that to give him another chance,” Barkley on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
