Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul strengthened its frontline by signing Turkish national team center Furkan Aldemir to a four-year deal. Aldemir (2.07 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Philadelphia of the NBA, with whom he averaged 2.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 41 games last season. He has three seasons of Euroleague experience from his time with Galatasaray, during which he averaged 6.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 43 games. He helped Galatasaray reach the 2014 playoffs before bowing out to FC Barcelona. That season he led the Top 16 in per-minute rebounding with an average of 14.5 rebounds prorated over 40 minutes and was third in blocks during that stage with 3.1 per 40 minutes. Aldemir started his professional career as a teenager with Pinar Karsiyaka, where he played for four seasons before joining Galatasaray in 2011. He has been a regular with the Turkish national team over the past three years.
