The Boston Celtics have agreed to a contract extension with guard Jrue Holiday.

“In addition to being one of the more accomplished players in the league, Jrue is an elite teammate and competitor. He is simply a person who raises everyone’s level around him,” said Brad Stevens, Celtics President of Basketball Operations.

“He combines an unselfishness to do whatever is best for the team with an edge to take on any challenge at any time. We are grateful that Jrue is a Celtic.”

Holiday has appeared in 68 games (all starts) with the Celtics this season and is averaging 12.5 points, a career-high 5.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 32.9 minutes per game.

Holiday is shooting a career-high 43.1 percent from beyond the arc, which ranks sixth in the NBA, and he has knocked down the second-most three-pointers in a single season in his career (137).

The Chatsworth, California native also ranks seventh in the NBA in total plus/minus (+453) and ninth in blocks among league guards (51).
