Reid, Edwards shine as Timberwolves defeat Lakers

Naz Reid and Anthony Edwards led the charge as the Minnesota Timberwolves (54-24) secured a decisive 127-117 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers (45-34) on Sunday night.

Reid showcased his shooting prowess with six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 31 points, while Edwards contributed 26 points to the Timberwolves’ triumph.

The absence of LeBron James due to flu-like symptoms and Anthony Davis’ early exit with an eye injury provided Minnesota with a significant advantage, which they capitalized on with a dominant performance.

With their seventh win in nine games, the Timberwolves moved level with the Denver Nuggets at the top of the Western Conference standings.

Rui Hachimura led the Lakers’ efforts with 30 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Minnesota’s offensive firepower.

Jaxson Hayes stepped up in Davis’ absence, recording a season-high 19 points and 10 assists, while Spencer Dinwiddie added 18 points and seven assists for Los Angeles. D’Angelo Russell had a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists.

Despite a resilient effort from the Lakers’ supporting cast, Minnesota’s commanding lead, fueled by Reid’s stellar shooting and Edwards’ scoring, proved insurmountable.
