Game 9 left less unknown teams for Top 16. Next week remaining four tickets to Top 16 will be up for grabs. In Group A three teams have chances to finish top of the group and avoid other group winners in the next round.
In Group B Barcelona secured the first place after downing Asseco Prokom 76-64 in Poland. The Poles could still qualify for Top 16 if they manage to make a big surprise and defeat Panathinaikos in OAKA.
Zalgiris hosted Nancy in Kaunas with a tough mission – they had to win by at least 15 points to reach Top 16. Lithuania champions nearly made it winning the game 105-94. Their only hope to go through is to win away at Barcelona.
Group C winner was decided in Rome as Lottomatica faced TAU Ceramica. The game was as good as it gets. Overtime was needed to determine the strongest team in the group. Italians lost 93-106.
Fenerbahce left Olimpija with only one victory beating them by 20 points and securing a ticket to the next round. Slovenian champions will visit Alba Berlin next week hoping to record their second win.
Although defending champions CSKA Moscow lost two games in a row they got back on track and defeated Efes Pilsen convincingly 74-55. Trajan Langdon had 27 points for the Russian giants. This victory guaranteed CSKA first place in the group with one match left to play.
Real Madrid joined CSKA in Top 16 despite the loss in Italy against Armani Jeans Milano. Italian club saved their chances of going through. Although it won't be an easy task.
