Former baseball star Alex Rodriguez and entrepreneur Marc Lore have responded to Glen Taylor’s statement regarding the sale of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx.

A spokesperson on behalf of Lore and Rodriguez expressed disappointment with Taylor’s public statement, asserting that they have fulfilled their obligations and have all necessary funding to complete the purchase.

According to the spokesperson, Taylor’s statement reflects “seller’s remorse” and is deemed short-sighted and disruptive to the teams and fans, especially during a historic winning season.

“We are disappointed with Glen Taylor’s public statement today. We have fulfilled our obligations, have all necessary funding and are fully committed to closing our purchase of the team as soon as the NBA completes its approval process. Glen Taylor’s statement is an unfortunate case of seller’s remorse that is short sighted and disruptive to the team and the fans during a historic winning season,” the statement reads as shared by NBA insider Shams Charania.

Taylor previously announced that Lore and Rodriguez’s option to acquire controlling interest in the teams has expired.

According to Taylor, the agreement mandated closure within 90 days following Lore and Rodriguez’s exercise notice, with the deadline expiring on March 27, 2024, without finalization.

Taylor unequivocally stated, “The Timberwolves and Lynx are no longer for sale,” signaling the conclusion of the ownership transition process.
