Rookie Brandon Miller dropped a career-high 31 points, including seven 3-pointers, as the Charlotte Hornets (18-54) secured a thrilling 118-111 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers (44-29) on Wednesday night.

Teaming up with Miles Bridges and Tre Mann, who each contributed 17 points, Miller led the charge for the Hornets, snapping their five-game losing streak in style.

In a tightly contested matchup, Miller’s performance proved to be the difference-maker for Charlotte, providing a much-needed boost and sealing the victory with a clutch 3-pointer in the closing seconds.

Despite a spirited effort from Jarrett Allen and Max Strus, who combined for 43 points for the Cavaliers, Cleveland faltered against a determined Hornets squad.

Sam Merrill added 17 points off the bench, while Darius Garland contributed 14 points and 12 assists for the Cavs.

With this loss, Cleveland was overtaken by the New York Knicks for third place in the Eastern Conference.
