Zion Williamson dominates with 36 points as Pelicans top Pistons

Zion Williamson dropped 36 points to guide the New Orleans Pelicans (44-27) to a commanding 114-101 win over the Detroit Pistons (12-59) on Sunday.

In a dominant display, Williamson shot an impressive 13 for 14 from the field and 10 for 14 from the free-throw line in 36 minutes of action, while also contributing seven rebounds and six assists.

CJ McCollum chipped in with 23 points and seven assists, further solidifying the Pelicans’ dominance as they secured their fifth win in six games. Naji Marshall contributed 14 points an eight rebounds off the bench.

Meanwhile, the Pistons found themselves severely depleted, missing four of their five starters, including Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, and Isaiah Stewart, along with sixth man Simone Fontecchio.

Despite the Pistons’ efforts, led by newcomer Chimezu Metu and Malachi Flynn, who each contributed 17 points, they were unable to overcome New Orleans’ commanding lead established early in the game.

Jaden Ivey added 16 points, while James Wiseman contributed a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

With this win, the Pelicans remain in fifth place in the Western Conference.
