Former NBA player and coach Sam Mitchell has high praise for San Antonio Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, predicting a future adorned with multiple MVP and Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) awards for the rising star.

Mitchell’s bold forecast came during a segment on NBA TV, where he articulated his belief in Wembanyama’s exceptional abilities on both ends of the court, foreseeing unprecedented success in the coming years.

“What we’re about to see in the next 2 or 3 years, we’re about to see the MVP and the Defensive Player of the Year all rolled into one. He’s going to win that award two or three times, combined both of them,” Mitchell said.

“He can block shots and get to things that you don’t think is possible… And then offensively… Once that gets cemented in his mind that he can get a quality shot anytime he wants, it’s over because there’s nothing you can do defensively. He can move his feet. He can guard guards.”

With impressive statistics this season, including averages of 20.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.4 blocks per game, Wembanyama has already showcased his versatility and impact on the court as a rookie.
