In a moment of lightheartedness during the Los Angeles Clippers’ victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, James Harden made headlines for his unexpected attempt to block teammate Kawhi Leonard’s shot.
Despite Harden’s double-double performance, it was his playful attempt to block Leonard’s shot that caught the attention of fans and teammates alike.
During a play where Harden passed to Leonard for an open three-pointer in the corner, the former MVP decided to add some comedic flair by leaping in an attempt to block the shot himself.
Reflecting on the amusing moment postgame, Harden expressed his intention to inject positive energy into the team, even if his block attempt didn’t quite go as planned.
“It’s just me trying to create a great energy or vibe for this team. It would have been better if he made the shot but give somebody something to laugh about,” Harden said postgame.
Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue, unaware of the incident during the game, shared a laugh with reporters during postgame press conference. “I just saw that. I didn’t even see it during the game. Guys…,” Lue smiled.
