Megyn Kelly criticized “sanctimonious leftists” in Hollywood for “hypocrisy” in embracing Jimmy Kimmel, the Oscars host known for Trump-bashing.
Kelly pointed out that Kimmel had previously worn blackface in a comedy skit that mocked basketball legend Karl Malone and condemned the Oscar attendees for warmly receiving him, despite his past use of blackface.
On her SiriusXM podcast, she highlighted the apparent double standard, emphasizing that some of the celebrities present had previously expressed horror at the mention of blackface.
Despite this controversy, Kimmel’s career did not face significant consequences, as noted by Kelly.
“Obviously Kimmel’s love of blackface was not a deal-breaker for ABC – which already employs him as a late-night host and which, in addition to its many blackface awards shows, also produced and promoted many shows and stars in blackface,” she said, citing actor Robert Downey Jr. and others.
“It appears the real sin with blackface, you see, is talking about how standards on it have changed, not actually wearing it. You can still win Oscars and host the Oscars after doing that.”
