Russell’s season-high scoring spree included 21 points in the fourth quarter, culminating in a decisive go-ahead jumper with 5.9 seconds remaining, sealing the Lakers’ comeback win against a formidable Bucks squad.
Despite James’ absence due to a lingering ankle injury, the Lakers found their offensive rhythm behind Russell’s remarkable shooting display.
With key contributions from Anthony Davis (22 points, 13 rebounds) and Austin Reaves (18 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists), the Lakers managed to take a much needed win.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s triple-double effort (34 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists) for the Bucks wasn’t enough to thwart the Lakers’ resurgence.
Damian Lillard also contributed significantly with 28 points, 12 assists and five rebounds, while Pat Connaughton added 17 points and six rebounds off the bench.
The victory marks a significant triumph for the Lakers in their pursuit of playoff contention, as they continue to navigate through a fiercely competitive Western Conference. Currently seated ninth in the West, the purple and gold are three games back from the sixth place.
For their part, the Bucks are third in the Eastern Conference eight games behind the leading Boston Celtics.
