After playing a key role in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ victory over the Memphis Grizzlies by effectively defending Jaren Jackson Jr., Anthony Edwards asserted that he deserves a spot on the All-Defensive Team.

Edwards took on the defensive assignment against Jackson, who had scored 29 points by the midway point of the third quarter.

Despite a considerable height difference, Edwards limited Jackson to just four points for the remainder of the game, contributing to Minnesota’s comeback win.

“They just got to watch the games because this is not my first time doing this,” Edwards said, referring to media members who will vote for All-Defensive honors.

“I have nights like this all the time where somebody gets hot, their best player gets hot and I go shut ’em down the rest of the game.”

Edwards not only made a significant impact on defense but also ignited the Timberwolves’ offense with 17 points in the third quarter, injecting energy into a game where the team struggled against a sub-.500 opponent.

Despite turning his ankle in Tuesday’s game, Edwards played nearly 40 minutes, emphasizing the importance of every victory to him.

“I come from winning 20 games my rookie year, so I don’t care how we win,” he said. “… If we win the game, I’m happy. I have nothing bad to say.”
