Sub-par performances of Maccabi forced the club’s management to consider replacing head coach Guy Goodes who has been in charge of the Israeli giants since last season.

According to lrytas.lt, Lithuania national team head coach Jonas Kazlauskas is on the list of potential Goodes’ successors in Tel Aviv.

Neither Kazlauskas, nor his agent denied the rumours. Both of them refused to comment on the topic.

The last three years have been especially successful for the Lithuanian coach. Since getting back the reigns of the national team Kazlauskas led the team to EuroBasket silver in 2013 and 2015 and fourth place finish at the FIBA World Cup 2014.

Kazlauskas has not coached any club since 2014, after he parted ways with the Chinese Basketball Association side Guangdong Southern Tigers.

During the coaching career that spans two decades he has coached Zalgiris, to whom he brought the only Euroleague title in 1999, Lietuvos Rytas, Olympiacos and CSKA Moscow.
