Gilgeous-Alexander on Marbury’s comment: Steve Nash still ahead of me

Oklahoma City Thunder standout Shai Gilgeous-Alexander reflected on the accolades from NBA legend Stephon Marbury, asserting that two-time MVP Steve Nash still stands as the premier Canadian basketball talent.

Despite receiving acclaim as the “best Canadian basketball player ever” from Marbury, Gilgeous-Alexander maintained humility, acknowledging Nash’s unparalleled legacy.

“I appreciate it, but Steve is still ahead of me. I’m going to try to catch him, but he’s still ahead of me,” the Thunder star remarked.

“Whenever somebody says good things about you, it’s a compliment. Obviously, he was a heck of a basketball player, knows the game really well and I appreciate him.”

At just 25 years old, Gilgeous-Alexander has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the NBA, averaging 31.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.
