Victor Wembanyama: “It would’ve been greater if I was on the All-Star team”

San Antonio Spurs’ rising star Victor Wembanyama may have missed out on an NBA All-Star Game nod in his rookie season, but the towering center remains optimistic about his upcoming participation in the All-Star Weekend’s Rising Stars Game.

Expressing his excitement for the event, Wembanyama acknowledged the honor while reflecting on his desire to secure a spot among the league’s elite players in the All-Star lineup.

“It’s great,” Wembanyama said per Hector Ledesma of ClutchPoints. “It would’ve been greater if I was on the All-Star team but it’s a great experience I’m going to have,” the top pick in this past NBA Draft continued. “I’m going to be able to see some great players and the best of the league.”

Despite narrowly missing out on an All-Star selection, the French sensation has been making waves in his debut NBA season, showcasing his prowess on both ends of the court.

Among NBA big men, Wembanyama currently ranks 9th in scoring, averaging 20.5 points per game, while also demonstrating his prowess on the boards with an average of 10 rebounds per game, placing him 16th in the league.

Notably, the French prodigy leads the entire NBA in blocked shots, showcasing his defensive prowess with an impressive average of 3.2 blocks per game.

Furthermore, Wembanyama has showcased his playmaking abilities, ranking 11th among centers with an average of 3.2 assists per game.
