The Charlotte Hornets are leaning towards keeping stretch forward Davis Bertans on their roster, opting to provide him with consistent playing time rather than pursuing a buyout.

Following the trade deadline, speculation arose regarding Bertans’ future with the Hornets, with some playoff contenders eyeing him as a potential acquisition.

However, Bertans has settled into his new role in Charlotte, where he has been receiving meaningful minutes off the bench, making his departure less probable, as reported by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a trade that sent Gordon Hayward the other way, Bertans has quickly adjusted to his new surroundings with the Hornets.

Since joining the Hornets, Bertans has appeared in three games, averaging 5 points and 1 rebound in 12 minutes per game. While these numbers may not be eye-popping, they represent a notable uptick from his production with the Thunder earlier in the season (2.9 points in 6.1 minutes per game).

With a player option worth $16 million for the upcoming season, Bertans holds the flexibility to determine his future beyond this year.
