NBA star Kyrie Irving recently shed light on his departure from the Brooklyn Nets, revealing insights into his decision-making process and the circumstances surrounding his exit.

Irving’s departure from the Nets unfolded last season amid speculation and uncertainty, with the point guard expressing a desire for change as the trade deadline loomed.

In a candid reflection on his time with the Nets, Irving emphasized the importance of open communication and dialogue, suggesting that critical conversations did not transpire before the pivotal deadline.

“The conversations that needed to be had weren’t had before the trade deadline… It was time for me to get my own peace of mind and go somewhere where I was able to thrive,” Irving said after his first game in Brooklyn since the trade, per Erik Slater.

Following his departure from the Nets, Irving embarked on a new journey with the Dallas Mavericks, where he quickly acclimated to his new surroundings and embraced fresh opportunities.

Irving chose to remain with the Mavericks last summer by signing a new three-year, $120 million deal.

This season Irving is averaging 25.5 points, 5 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 33.6 minutes per game.
