Red Star Belgrade captain Luka Mitrovic looks likely to be out for ‘several months’ after injuring his knee in a recent Adriatic League game.

Mitrovic went down to the floor clutching his knee in Red Star’s 77-73 loss to Slovenian side Union Olimpija Ljubljana in the Serbian capital on Sunday.

He was carried off the court and the team’s worst fears were confirmed when they heard that his knee injury would leave him sidelined.

The club have not confirmed a timetable for his return, but have stated that Mitrovic will be out for “several months”.

A source told TalkBasket that Mitrovic could miss the rest of the Euroleague season, unless Red Star makes the Final Four in Berlin, which is scheduled for next May.
