Markkanen shines as Jazz overpower Embiid-less 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers (23-12) faced another tough test without Joel Embiid (left knee swelling), and this time, the result was a 120-109 defeat at the hands of the Utah Jazz (17-20).

Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton delivered double-doubles, exposing the 76ers’ vulnerabilities in the absence of their star center.

Markkanen’s outstanding performance of 33 points and 13 rebounds, coupled with Sexton’s 22 points and 10 assists, propelled the Jazz to their sixth road win of the season.

The 76ers, already reeling from a 36-point loss to the Knicks the night before, faced additional setbacks with Tobias Harris nursing an ankle injury. De’Anthony Melton and Robert Covington were also unavailable, further depleting the roster.

Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 25 points, and Kelly Oubre Jr. contributed 24, but their efforts couldn’t compensate for the team’s defensive struggles.

While the Jazz committed 24 turnovers, their overall performance, led by John Collins with 19 points and Jordan Clarkson with 18, proved sufficient to secure the victory.
