The New York Knicks anticipate that Mitchell Robinson, their starting center, will be out for the rest of the 2023/24 season. Shams Charania from The Athletic states that the team has requested a disabled player exception following this development.

According to Fred Katz’s tweet, these exceptions are only approved if NBA doctors determine that a player is highly likely to remain inactive until June 15 or later. The Knicks wouldn’t have sought the DPE if they believed Robinson would return before that date.

Robinson was averaging 6.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks through 21 games (29.2 minutes).
