Donovan Mitchell: Our playmaking is going to be by committee

Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell spoke about the team’s unpredictability on offense without Darius Garland & Evan Mobley following Monday’s 135-130 overtime home win vs. the Houston Rockets.

(via Cleveland Cavaliers):

Reporter: “The last two games you guys are averaging 30 assists, 11 turnovers. What does that say about you guys taking over the playmaking?”

Mitchell: “The biggest thing, like you said, it’s going to be by committee. It isn’t going to be just myself. Last game obviously I had 13 (assists), but tonight I have 6, Isaac [Okoro] has 6, [Caris] [Le]Vert has 5, Craig [Porter] has 3, Sam [Merrill] has 3. So, it’s going to be as a group. No one person can do what Darius Garland does, that’s why he’s special. So we all have to find ways to do it as a group, and I think that just creates a lot of unpredictability within the team. That’s something when you have your stars out you don’t really know where the ball may be going, and that’s the case around the entire league. So just continuing doing a great job as a group to make up for the guys that are out right now, and that’s the biggest thing.”
