Spurs stun Lakers as Devin Vassell takes center stage

In a surprising turn of events, the San Antonio Spurs (4-20) rookie Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell led their team to a 129-115 victory over the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers (15-11).

Wembanyama, with an impressive 13 points and 15 rebounds, celebrated the end of the Spurs’ 18-game losing streak, embracing Vassell, who delivered a career-high 36 points.

LeBron James returned for the Lakers with 23 points and 10 rebounds, but the absence of Anthony Davis (hip injury), D’Angelo Russell (migraine), and Cam Reddish (right knee soreness) left the Lakers struggling.

Keldon Johnson’s 17 points and Zach Collins’ 16 points further fueled the Spurs’ victory, marking their first since November 2.
