Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made a pivotal decision against the Phoenix Suns, benching Klay Thompson with 6:19 remaining in the fourth quarter in a game that concluded with a 116-119 loss for the Dubs.

Thompson, contributing seven points on 2/10 field goals and 1/8 three-pointers, along with five rebounds in 27 minutes, acknowledged the unusual experience of being sidelined but admitted he “deserved” it, citing his recent subpar performance.

In response to the benching, Thompson stated, “I’ve been playing like crap,” as reported by Anthony Slater. Despite not receiving a specific explanation, he expressed trust in coach Kerr, stating, “I trust Steve now and forever will.”

Currently averaging 15.4 points with shooting percentages of 39.7% from the field and 34.3% from beyond the arc, Thompson’s struggles mirror those of the Warriors as they navigate a challenging season.
