Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert showcased their dominance as the Minnesota Timberwolves (15-4) secured a hard-fought 123-117 triumph against the Charlotte Hornets (6-12) on Saturday.
In a closely contested battle, Charlotte held a slim four-point lead with 4:53 remaining, but Towns and Gobert orchestrated a decisive 13-3 surge, propelling the Timberwolves ahead 115-109 with 2:02 left on the clock.
Gobert, defying injury concerns, delivered a stellar performance with a season-high 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Towns led the scoring charge with 28 points.
The Timberwolves, boasting the best record in the Western Conference at 15-4, showcased their resilience and depth, with Naz Reid contributing 23 points and Mike Conley notching 14 points and 10 assists.
The Hornets, led by Terry Rozier’s 23 points and Miles Bridges’ 22, fought valiantly but couldn’t overcome the late-game surge from the Timberwolves.
P.J. Washington (18 points), Gordon Hayward (17 points), and rookie Brandon Miller (14 points) also made substantial contributions.
