Zion Williamson dominates with season-high 33 points as Pelicans beat 76ers

Zion Williamson unleashed a scoring barrage with a season-high 33 points, exploiting Joel Embiid’s absence, as the New Orleans Pelicans (10-9) secured a 124-114 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers (12-6) on Wednesday night.

With Embiid sidelined due to illness, Williamson capitalized on the opportunity, making all but one of his 12 shots and showcasing his prowess in the paint.

The Pelicans’ star also displayed efficiency from the free-throw line, going 11 of 12, while contributing eight rebounds and six assists.

CJ McCollum, returning from a 12-game absence due to a partially collapsed lung, made a significant impact with 20 points in 28 minutes, including a crucial basket in the closing minutes to seal the victory for New Orleans.

Jonas Valanciunas (19 points), Jordan Hawkins (16 points), and Brandon Ingram (15 points) also played pivotal roles as the Pelicans snapped a two-game skid.

Despite a stellar 33-point performance from Tyrese Maxey and 17 points from De’Anthony Melton, the 76ers struggled to overcome an early deficit, trailing by as many as 16 points in the first quarter.
