In the face of early-season struggles and mounting criticism, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson fired back at his detractors with a confident rebuttal.

When questioned by Tim Kawakami of The Athletic about head coach Steve Kerr’s patience with him and teammate Andrew Wiggins, Thompson responded with a hint of defiance.

“What, do you want him to bench me? Or bench Wigs?” the four-time NBA champion said. “I mean, you can suggest it, that’s fine… Sometimes you earn these things, like patience and time to find yourself. I think history is on our side when it comes to that stuff.”

The scrutiny surrounding Thompson and Wiggins has not gone unnoticed, with critics questioning their performances this season. Unfazed by the external noise, Thompson made it clear that he values Kerr’s trust and emphasized the historical success that backs their claim to patience.

In a direct and dismissive tone, Thompson addressed the critics, stating, “I don’t care what people say. It’s like, they don’t do what we do. They can’t do what we do. That’s why they talk. Why would I? Like, come on. I don’t care what people say at this point in my life, ha! Next question.”

As the Warriors navigate a competitive Western Conference, Thompson’s statistics, averaging 15 points with a shooting percentage of 40.2% from the field and 36.7% from beyond the arc, reflect the challenges they’ve faced. The team currently holds a 10th-place position with 8 wins and 9 losses.
