Virtus Bologna continued to shine in the kickoff of the 2023/24 EuroLeague season, securing their seventh victory and placing them just behind Real Madrid and Barcelona in the standings.

Under Luca Banchi’s leadership, they advanced to a 7-3 overall score with an 87-79 triumph over Fenerbahce at Segafredo Arena, dealing the Istanbul team their fourth consecutive loss.

The game saw coach Dimitris Itoudis ejected in the third quarter after receiving two rapid technical fouls for protesting to the referees, leaving the guests without his guidance on the sidelines.

“This win goes to the guys we miss, but it’s not about who we have and who we miss; it’s about personality and mentality that we play with, this identity to fight every game,” Tornike Shengelia said after the victory of his team.

“Really proud of my team. We understood that defensively we need to be smart and know how to use fouls. Offensively, every time we moved the ball, we had options.”
