2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments draw seedings revealed

The path to the Olympic Games gains clarity as the principles for the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments Draw are revealed by FIBA.

Scheduled for Monday, November 27, at 19:00 CET in Mies, Switzerland, the draw at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball will feature Great Britain legend and NBA All-Star Luol Deng.

Deng, now the President of the South Sudan Basketball Federation, brings his experience from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, where South Sudan secured a direct qualification to the Olympics.

Four tickets await the winners of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, with host nations and cities confirmation expected on November 27 during the FIBA Executive Committee meeting.

Reportedly, Spain, Latvia, Greece, and Puerto Rico emerge as front-runners to host the prestigious 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifiers.

The twenty-four qualified teams, grouped into six pots based on the FIBA Men’s World Ranking, set the stage for the draw, ensuring a competitive and balanced tournament.

Each tournament will consist of two groups of three teams, fed by pots 1, 4, and 5 for Group A, and pots 2, 3, and 6 for Group B. Hosts will be allocated to tournaments in their respective countries.

Pots for the draw include Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia in Pot 1; Brazil, Italy, Greece, and Poland in Pot 2; Puerto Rico, Montenegro, Dominican Republic, and Finland in Pot 3; New Zealand, Georgia, Mexico, and Lebanon in Pot 4; Croatia, Ivory Coast, Angola, and the Philippines in Pot 5; and Egypt, Bahamas, Cameroon, and Bahrain in Pot 6.
