Zion Williamson guides Pelicans to victory over Nuggets in thrilling contest

Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram orchestrated a commanding performance, propelling the New Orleans Pelicans (6-6) to a 115-110 triumph over the Denver Nuggets (9-3).

Williamson’s 26 points, coupled with Ingram’s 21, set the stage for a gripping showdown that showcased the Pelicans’ resilience.

The Pelicans held a substantial lead, with Williamson and Ingram playing pivotal roles in establishing a 20-point advantage over the Nuggets.

However, Nikola Jokic’s stellar performance threatened to turn the tide, as Denver closed in, trailing by just a single point with 4:01 remaining.

In the crucial final minutes, Williamson and Ingram showcased their clutch capabilities, contributing key baskets during an 8-0 run.

The Nuggets had an opportunity to level the score in the last 30 seconds, but missed 3-point attempts by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Reggie Jackson, and Aaron Gordon kept the Pelicans in control.

Despite Denver’s efforts, the Pelicans secured their second consecutive victory in the NBA In-Season Tournament, improving their record in West Group B to 2-1, while Denver sits with an identical mark.

Jokic’s outstanding triple-double performance, with 26 points, 18 assists, and 16 rebounds, showcased his brilliance, but the Nuggets couldn’t overcome the early deficit.

Christian Braun’s 24 points and Michael Porter Jr.’s 18 points and 11 rebounds added to Denver’s efforts.

New Orleans, led by Jonas Valanciunas’s 22 points, demonstrated resilience and composure, securing a valuable win that keeps them in contention for tournament success.
