As the 2023-24 NBA season approaches, Daryl Morey, the president of basketball operations for the Philadelphia 76ers, faces a challenging situation, navigating through the aftermath of a strained relationship with star player James Harden.

Having brought Harden to the team from Brooklyn last season, Morey finds himself embroiled in public turmoil after the former MVP publicly criticized him, labeling him as ‘a liar’ for alleged broken promises regarding a lucrative contract extension, subsequently expressing his desire for a trade to the Clippers.

Despite the precarious circumstances, Morey remains optimistic, emphasizing the team’s strong foundation, anchored by reigning MVP Joel Embiid, and the potential for an impactful acquisition through the Harden trade, as reported by Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“This year, regardless of what happens with James, we’re going to be a very [bleeping] good team,” he said. “If James is here, we’re going to be even better. If James isn’t here or we trade him for something, we’re going to be very good.”
