Despite missing the recent FIBA World Cup, where Canada secured a bronze medal and a berth for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Andrew Wiggins is determined to represent his country in the upcoming Olympic Games.

While injuries kept him from participating in the World Cup, the 2022 NBA champion is eager to don the Canadian jersey in the 2024 Olympics, as he expressed in an interview with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda.

Reflecting on the national team’s performance in the World Cup, Wiggins emphasized the team’s strong showing and their historic qualification, applauding the efforts of his fellow Canadian players.

With Wiggins affirming his commitment to the 2024 Olympics, Canada’s basketball prospects are bright, with a strong roster bolstered by talented players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dillon Brooks, and RJ Barrett.

In addition to Wiggins, another NBA champion, Jamal Murray who missed the World Cup this year, is also expected to participate next summer.

As Canada sets its sights on the ultimate prize in the 2024 Olympics, Wiggins remains optimistic about the team’s chances, highlighting their collective strength and potential to contend for gold.
