Peyton Watson aims for breakout season with Nuggets

Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson is entering his second NBA season with high hopes and a strong belief in his abilities.

In an interview with Harrison Wind of DNVR, Watson expressed his confidence in having a breakout year and aims to secure a spot in the rotation.

“I feel like I’m one of the best second-year guys in the league,” the 21-year-old player said, highlighting his determination to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.

One of Watson’s aspirations is to earn an invitation to the Rising Stars game during All-Star weekend, showcasing his potential and talent on a bigger stage.

To achieve his goals, Watson closely studies the game of Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic, recognizing the Serbian center’s unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence.

“I literally watch everything he does,” Watson revealed. “He never takes any shortcuts. He does everything the right way every day.

“I really watch all those things because I want to be on that level one day. I feel like I can be an All-NBA player one day. And I take it very seriously.”

The No. 30 pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, Watson made his rookie debut last season, averaging 3.3 points and 1.6 rebounds in limited playing time.

As he enters his second year, Watson is determined to make a more significant impact and contribute to the Nuggets’ success.
