Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd discussed his team’s poor defensive effort following yesterday’s 111-99 preseason loss vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“When you look at the new pieces that we have, the limited time that we’ve been together; it’s gonna not look good. But there were stretches where we did play pretty good defense. It all comes down to being able to rebound the ball; and we struggled there early. But with some different rotations, different combinations, we did a really good job of rebounding the ball. Also getting off to a slow start offensively just put us in a bad situation mentally that we gotta get better at understanding some nights we’re not just gonna have to rely on our offense; we gotta play defense if we wanna win.”
