Neemias Queta Heads To Boston Celtics Following A Two-Way Contract Deal

The Boston Celtics announced on Tuesday, Sept. 19, that they have signed center Neemias Queta to a two-way contract.

“We have signed Neemias Queta to a two-way contract,” the team announced in a post to X, formerly Twitter.

The 24-year-old player has played in 20 NBA games over the past two seasons with the Sacramento Kings, averaging 2.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 7.5 minutes per game.

Last season, the Portuguese center started all 29 games he appeared in for the Kings’ G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings, and averaged 16.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Queta was named to the 2022-23 NBA G League All-Defensive Team. He also finished second in Kia MVP voting.

The Kings selected Queta with the 39th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. This was after he played three seasons after at the Utah State University. Queta appeared in 86 games for the Aggies and averaged 13.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.

In addition, Queta finished his collegiate career with the most blocks in the program history. As a result, he was named both USBWA District VIII Player of the Year and Bleacher Report National Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. Also in 2019 and 2021, the player was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year.

As a sophomore at Utah State, Queta was selected to the U20 Portuguese National team for the 2019 European Championships. He averaged 14.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in six contests, ranking third in the tournament in rebounding.

Meanwhile, financial details of the contract Queta signed with the Celtics, have not been disclosed by either parties.
