As the stars lit up the sky, it was Dennis Schroder who stole the show. He led Germany to an 85-82 win against Australia in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

Schroder’s remarkable 30-point performance included a crucial basket that put Germany ahead 83-81 with only 46 seconds remaining.

Despite Australia’s attempts, Germany’s strong defense and Maodo Lo’s 20 points secured the victory. This success came despite the absence of Franz Wagner, who was sidelined due to injury in their previous game against Japan.

“I thought it was a really good basketball game. Physical, with two really good teams playing. It came down to one possession. I thought we started the game really well, and we ended it really well,” said Gordie Herbert, Head Coach of Germany.
