In their first game of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 against Iran, Brazil remained determined, securing a decisive 100-59 victory.

Their strong defensive effort allowed for impressive fast breaks, with Marcelinho Huertas leading the offense and becoming the third player to achieve 100 World Cup assists since 1994.

“We had a lot of good transition play both on offense and defense. The solidarity of the team was the key for this win. We have to continue with the same for the next match,” said Gustavo de Conti, Brazil’s head coach.

“We know that defense will make the difference in this tournament. We have a challenge for all of the games to be better on defense.”
