Lithuania effectively clinched their inaugural victory by beating Egypt, asserting dominance from beginning to end in the presence of 7,229 enthusiasts in Manila, culminating in a 93-67 scoreline.

Lithuania’s win propelled them to a 1-0 record, positioning them in sync with Montenegro within Group D rankings. Conversely, Egypt and Mexico now occupy the lower bracket, both grappling with defeats on the inaugural game day at the Mall of Asia Arena.

“This is the first time for us in a long time being at the World Cup, starting with probably the top ranked team in our pool,” said Roy Rana, Egypt’s head coach. “We knew it was going to be a challenge, for spurts there we played really well.

“We had some moments in the second quarter, some in the third where we were really good. Just gotta watch film, gotta go back, try to be better against Montenegro.”
