Trae Young got nothing but limitless optimism about his upcoming campaign for the Atlanta Hawks starting next season.

In his recent appearance at Gil’s Arena, Young didn’t hold back noting his positive outlook about his continuing backcourt partnership with Dejounte Murray and the further guidance that Quin Snyder will instill in their special collaboration.

“For sure, like I think we can be special,” Young responded when asked if he and Murray can become the best backcourt tandem in the league. “For me, I don’t like necessarily talking about it; I’m like I’m doing it. It’s different for me talking about it, but I know we can be special. After going through a year, we knew it was gonna be some adjustment periods from both being point guards and both having ball in our hands a lot.

“But we’ve been working, we’ve been talking. I think the thing about us is having Quin (Snyder), like he’s such a smart coach. When it comes to offense, it’s not gonna be the same. Since I’ve been in the league, it’s been a lot of just me and just pick-and-rolls… There’s a lot of new things that we’re going to add to our team and it may surprise people.”

Last season handed both Young and Murray that significant learning curve. As Atlanta acquired the star guard from the San Antonio Spurs, many raised their eyebrows on how they’ll be able to mesh up effectively given their ball-dominant, offensive redundancy.

From a rocky start under the tenure of Nate McMillan, the club decided to tap Quin Snyder who went on to develop a solid impression from the perspective of Young. They were able to still make their season productive amid coming down once again in the first round of the postseason.

But with Snyder having a full offseason of preparations on how he’ll operate Young, Murray, and the Hawks, the sky is indeed the limit for them to finally perform at their best. The utmost confidence of the franchise in the union of their All-Star duo can also be shaded from the fact that they handed Murray a four-year extension.

Young has plenty of strong reasons to get positive about Atlanta as they are heading to a much anticipating season that will finally apply their new system created by Snyder.
