As the NBA offseason unfolds, the Mavericks find themselves at a crossroads regarding the future of Tim Hardaway Jr. The 31-year-old shooting guard averaged 14.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game last season.

However, with the addition of Seth Curry and the team’s coaching staff vying for minutes, Hardaway’s role on the Mavericks is now in question.

Tim Cato, reporting for The Athletic, revealed that the Mavericks were initially confident of moving Hardaway during the summer, though that might not be the case anymore. The uncertainty surrounding his status for the upcoming season now stands at 51/49, according to him. Nevertheless, it remains more likely that he will eventually be traded during the season.

Hardaway’s performance indicates that he is still a valuable asset, even better than some of the competition for playing time. However, the team’s need to allocate minutes strategically may hinder his opportunities on the court if he remains with the Mavericks.
